Irish Harp & Concertina
Aisling Lyons is a sought after harpist, composer, harp teacher, concertina player and teacher of Irish music both in Ireland and worldwide. She graduated as a Master of Music Education from the University of Limerick & has taught on the undergraduate and postgraduate music courses at the University of Limerick and University College Cork. Aisling has performed and taught at some of Ireland's most prestigious festivals such as The Willie Clancy Week, The Ennis Trad Fest, Meitheal, Imbolc, Keadue O'Carolan Summer School and many festivals internationally; The National Folk Fest (AUS), Milwaukee Irish Fest (U.S.A), Tocane St. Apres (France), Proitze (Germany) & Brittany Winter School. Aisling is a multi All-Ireland champion & RTÉ Radio Folk Awards nominee. She teaches students weekly and focuses on technique, rhythm, phrasing, emphasis, left hand accompaniment, Irish dance music repertoire, Irish harp repertoire & modern tunes. Amongst general musicianship training, Aisling prepares students for exams (SCT & LCM), Fleadhs, competitions, weddings, session playing, general performance & school music practicals. In these online classes, Aisling can cater for beginners, intermediate players and advanced players. ABCs & standard notation will be provided. Whether you are a newcomer to the harp or Irish music or are a player of dance music already, Aisling will meet you where you are at!

I had a great concertina lesson with Aisling. She broke down the tune clearly which made it very easy for me to learn. I was surprised how quickly I was able to pick up the tune! She also has a beautiful playing style with natural and elegant ornamentation. I would highly recommend!

Aisling is a fantastic teacher. She accommodated all my requests. She gave me options for fingering and a variety of different left hand ideas to try out. She also sent me notes for the tunes and recordings after the class which are very helpful for practicing. I couldn’t recommend Aisling’s lesson enough!
